Upcoming Projects

Reconfiguring the Union 6th/7th Grade Center may be the most high-profile project as part of Union's five-year series bond for 2023-2027, but Union has a number of other important projects around the district.

Projects planned for 2024 with estimated completion dates. 

  • Playground improvements at Grove Elementary (Spring 2024)
  • UMAC video board replacement (Spring 2024)
  • Roofing improvements at Grove Elementary (Fall 2024)
  • Roof replacement at Education Service Center (2024)
  • UMAC lighting and audio improvements (Summer 2024)
  • Kitchen Renovation at 8th Grade Center – expanding the food preparation and serving areas and the amount of freezer/cooler space (Summer 2024) 
  • HVAC replacement at Peters Elementary (Fall 2024)
  • Building Automation System integration at Freshman Academy (Fall 2024)
  • Nurse’s office expansion at Union High School – enlarging to better accommodate the 3,400 students served with more space, beds, and increased privacy. (Summer 2024) 
  • Innovation Lab Phase III – An aeronautics simulator room and classroom will also be added to accommodate Union's growing High School program. (Summer 2024)

  • Districtwide building automation system upgrades
  • High School HVAC improvements
  • High School roofing project (current sections 2, 3 and 5)
  • Districtwide paving projects (Alternative School is the next large project)
  • Districtwide HVAC upgrades/rooftop unit replacements

Transportation Purchases

All items below have been ordered, with some delays expected. 

  • Six route buses
  • Four special needs buses
  • One large activity bus
  • Six 14-plus-1 route buses
  • One 1-ton 4-wheel-drive service truck for grounds maintenance mechanic
  • One 1-ton cargo van for warehouse/distribution center
  • One three-quarter ton 4-wheel drive service truck for operations electrician
  • One mid-size SUV for transportation
  • Three 1-ton, 4-wheel-drive flatbed dump trucks for grounds maintenance
